An Exciting Visit…

April 30, 2009

Yesterday at My Gym, the new owners had an open house where Elmo was the featured visitor.  The place was jam packed and overflowing with excitement, but we did see some familiar faces and Elmo.  Although, not surprisingly, Elaine didn’t want to sit on Elmo’s lap, she was excited to see him and happy to sit near him.

Happy Birthday Bob!

April 28, 2009

Today was Dad’s birthday.  He is very humble about his birthdays and this year was no exception.  We went out to dinner and had cake and ice cream at our house this evening.  My mom is in New Jersey with Katie and Brooks and we missed having her part of the celebration.  Elaine has been gearing up for weeks practicing her singing and talking about cake.  When we went to order the cake, all Elaine wanted was an orange cake.  Orange frosted, not flavored.  There was no disappointment in the color.  Simple white frosting spelling “Happy Birthday Bob” on the brightest orange cake ever made.   Thank goodness Dad is a good sport.  As always, Elaine and her Bob had a great time together and I think Dad had a great birthday.  He got one of his favorite meals and time with his favorite little girl–I don’t know who had a better time!

I love this picture!  Dad was trying to lick the frosting off Elaine’s fingers.  She’s squeal and yell and giggle, lick her finger and do it all over again!

Earth…

April 27, 2009

On Friday night, we went to the newest Disney movie “Earth.”  Elaine was excited about going to her second movie and gasped “big screen” when we entered theater.  She was also excited to get “pop-pop.”  She definitely takes after me with her love of popcorn.  The cinematography in the movie is amazing and Elaine loved it through the first hour.  Had we not sat through 20 minutes of previews, she would have made it beautifully (thank God for M&Ms).  She loved seeing the animals and spoke of them fondly.  We all enjoyed the evening.  It was a great way to start the weekend.

Skyway Art Show…

April 23, 2009

This week, we went to the annual Skyway art show and had a great time.  Elaine had her face painted, created a beautiful mosiac, looked at the amazing art work, shopped at the book fair, ate cookies and drank lemonade and played with the kids on the playground.  We are blessed to have a very talented art teacher who is so creative and everyone had a great night!!

Happy 77th…

April 22, 2009

On Monday was Uncle Billy’s birthday.  Upon arriving at my parents’ house, Elaine sat on his lap and sang happy birthday to him.  He wanted to go to the Air Force Academy which my parents and Elaine did with him.  Jerry showed him around the athletic facilities and they saw noon lunch formation.  Billy was very excited about visiting it!  We all went to dinner and had cake.  We all enjoyed helping Billy celebrate his day!

Great, Great Uncle Billy…

April 20, 2009

My mom’s Uncle Billy arrived Saturday night from Texas.  He and Elaine had never met and we enjoyed a low-key Sunday catching up.  Elaine warmed up pretty quickly and is excited about helping “Great, Great Uncle Biddy” celebrate his birthday and see Colorado Springs.  We are all looking forward to a fun visit.  Also, we completed our 4 generation pictures with this shot.

Easter Day…

April 16, 2009

On Easter morning, we woke up to 2 inches of snow–typical Colorado springtime!  Elaine looked through her basket, found all her eggs and had a great morning.  In the afternoon, we headed to my parents’ house for dinner.  It was relaxing, enjoyable holiday for all!!

Decorating…

April 14, 2009

On Saturday night, we decorated eggs.  Elaine got more and more into it as time passed and she ended up doing several eggs that had a little of every color.  She got the idea from my dad who tried to teach her how to do a 2 colored egg.  She took the idea and ran!  After we’d finished dying, I brought out some sparkly paint.  She added a little to the eggs and a lot to herself.  After a lot of color, some Easter candy and a long bath, Elaine slept well thinking of the Bunny’s deliveries.

Neighborhood Egg Hunt…

April 13, 2009

I am behind in getting to my blog, so I’ll spend a couple days catching up on our Easter festivities, which started with our neighborhood hunt.

We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood filled with kids and terrific neighbors.  One family puts together an egg hunt every year and invites all the kids.  This year, several families couldn’t make it because of other things going on, but fun was had by all who were there.  Elaine loved collecting the eggs.  It served as good practice for the real thing!
